Mars bars healthy?

chocolate.jpgIf you like chocolate, you have all the more reason to gorge on it Studies have now confirmed that chocolate can be as good for you as green tea. Chocolate contains antioxidants called flavanols which help improve cardiovascular health.

When I was young I had a tiny book called’ Chocolate and Cocoa’. It always fascinated me that the dark strongly flavoured sweet once emerged from the forests of South America. The cocoa beans of the cacao tree were once used as Aztec currency. It is after being processed that these beans produce the chocolate that we love.

Chocolate contains protein, sugar and minerals like iron, potassium and magnesium. Some stimulants found in chocolate can cause migraine attacks. There are studies confirming that chocolate boosts your energy levels and leaves you feeling all high. This is probably due to the caffeine content found in chocolate. Eating chocolate leads to higher serotonon and endorphin levels in the brain and make you feel great. That’s why Valentine’s Day is all about gifting chocolates and flowers!

Chocolate has not been proved to trigger off acne and funnily this sweet is safe on your teeth.Dark chocolate seems to be better than white chocolate as it reported cuts down blood pressure and the flavanol content destroysoxygen free radicals that harm cells. But since chocolates are high in calorie content, you can eat your chocolate and simultaneously cut down on any other calorie-rich food.
