Avoiding the word “DIET”
I loved this article on how to stay trim without using the D-word(Diet I mean). The word diet is so restricting. It limits your intake of food…the reason we want to make all that money. All we want is good food and a good house and a good life. When you limit yourself, you are inviting unhappiness.
Check out what B. Elwin Sherman has to say about eating healthy. He thinks that you can accomplish your weight goals if you eat sensibly and eat less crap. And of course you have to Exercise,Exercise,Exercise. And stay away from dieting resources, blogs, books………..now I wouldn’t recommend that:)

The D-Word and D-Word thinking will prevent permanent weight loss. D-Word thinking equates weight loss attempts with punishment and deprivation. Overweight Eating then becomes a reward. No one likes to be deprived and punished forever. Overweight eating becomes the alternative to deprivation and punishment, when the D-Word is used to become thin.
Today I blogged about “Don’t give up, you can’t become thin”.

As a current dieter, I think a diet can be a good thing if you choose the right one. I agree that many of the fad diets out there are about depriving yourself but many diets also focus on learning to eat in more healthy ways. I personally grew up eating fast food and am now having to re-train myself to eat healthy foods in the right portion sizes.

Dr Harold: Thank you for visiting my site and for your insights!
Deanna: Thank you for your comment. It’s the way that dieting is perceived that worries me. It’s not about deprivation. It’s about making sensible food choices.
