Careful drinking
Alcohol consumption is never a good idea especially if you have a history of violent verbal or physical behavior triggered off by the drink. But if you must have some drinks during the Christmas holidays keep these valuable tips in mind.
-Its better to avoid diet mixers. Drinking rum and coke is safer than drinking rum and diet coke since the sugar helps in alcohol metabolism.
-It’s best to dilute your alcohol with water.
-Like eating from smaller plates helps you eat sensibly, drinking from smaller glasses limits your intake.
-Avoid mixing liqours.
-Never drink on an empty stomach.

alcoholic consumption, Christmas holidays

Hey Neelima,
I wouldn’t exactly call it a “must,” which I limit to food, water, sleeping, breathing and such, however, occasional and/or moderate alcohol consumption is part of my daily, healthy regimen.
A glass of wine is an old friend of mine.
As to rum and Coke… That is a very sweet, drink-it-while-you’re-young combo, ditto SoComfort and Coke. Diet Coke spoils the whole idea.
However, Vodka with lemonade, and various other fruit juices… That can be a wonderful thing once or twice in a while.
My Mom’s dad, a steelworker, lived to healthy 99, and drank boilermakers every day of his adult life.
I, too, enjoy renting a cold beer on a warm day, with or without a shot.
I’m sure some people should never drink, for one reason or another; but I’m also certain there’s no reason some people cannot imbibe moderately if they choose.
Like too much fat, alcohol in excess can make you stupid, slow and just plain sick, but so can too much water.
Too much of practically anything can kill you.
Eventually, it’s simply too much living that does every one of us in.
Hundreds of people have died while I was writing these lines.
I wonder how many lived.
