Yoga vs Botox?

Friday, March 30th, 2007

What would you prefer doing?

Yoga or Botox?

Have you heard of the navarasas? Well it’s the Indian equivalent of the nine facial expressions-from pleasant to raging mad. Facial yoga is booming business now with yoga teachers giving you tips on how to look young by stretching your face all over the place. Stick out your tongue till your mouth hearts. Stare till your eyes look like saucers. It’s a lot of fun and you end up looking like Jim Carrey, as Katy Buchanan put it in her fun article: Yoga exercises keep mouth, cheek and brow toned

tongue.jpgThe idea is to perk up circulation and make your face more mobile. It’s always tightness that your body feels, when you’re on the phone or in a board meeting. So facial exercises help you loosen up and if you look at a mirror it makes you laugh too.

Botox paralyses your problem spots. It changes the way you look, no doubt and Hollywood will go the Botox way but ordinary people who don’t have to look like gods and goddesses on a daily basis, they can try this. And see if face contortion puts an end to crow’s feet.

What would you go for?

Eating Healthy Funny?

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

Have you ever been made fun of for eating healthy?

Its seems that eating healthy can be uncool and being vegan can turn you into a social outcaste.

Is that true? I mean with all this talk about metamorphosizing your habits and becoming more aware of your health, with all the blogs on the web,and with all the health and diet books in circulation you still have to take the heat when you make food choices?

I find that typical. Doing the right thing is often difficult to digest. It’s an absurd thing that I’m trying to figure out this weekend.

Weekend humor

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

Diet humor is making waves around blogs. The reason? Everyone likes to have a good laugh and making fun of your figure sometimes helps you to come out of your dangerous obsession with fad diets. Here are some jokes I found:

A diet is a weigh of life.

It’s not the minutes spent at the table that put on weight, it’s the seconds.

The most fattening thing you can put in an ice cream sundae is a spoon.

Sweets are the destiny that shapes our ends.

Diets are for people who are thick and tired of it.

The toughest part of a diet isn’t watching what you eat. It’s watching what other people eat.

A diet is when you have to go to some length to change your width.

Many women reduce and reduce, yet still never manage to become a bargain.

The best way to lose weight is by skipping … snacks and desert.

Most people gain weight by having intimate dinners for two…alone.

People go to Weight Watchers to learn their lessens.

Diet pills for dogs?

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Now man’s best friend is getting fat too. If your dog weighs 20% more than its ideal weight, then welcome your pup to the obesity epidemic! Dogs eat fattier foods than humans. Obese canines now have a government-approved drug called Slentrol. This liquid drugs helps to cut down puppy fat and NO, it’s not for humans or cats either! The diet pill should be accompanied by a healthy diet plan and exercise.

fat_dog.jpg

But is this going a bit too far? Can you cope with dog distress symptoms. Diet pills have side effects and you don’t want a vomiting, lethargic, sickly dog,do you? Some critics believe that it’s time pet owners get responsible.

Instead of resorting to pills, owners should take their dogs for regular check-ups and ask the vet what has to be done. You’ll have to lower the dog food calories and take your dogs out for longer walks. Obesity can cause dogs to lose breath easily and make them intolerant to heat and exercise. So take practical steps to help your pets.

Good food,better love life

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

Although it has been recommended to have oysters, chocolate and wine for a better sex life, studies have shown that eating a healthy diet spices up your life. Eating lots of fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes, and minimal calories from fats is the best way to have a healthier heart and thereby better blood circulation. The idea would be that any food that makes you healthy, will spark up life in the bedroom.

Some funny food facts on this count are:

-Vitamins in eggs can reduce performance anxiety in bed.

-Calcium in vanilla ice cream causes strong orgasms.

-Folic acid in cereal improves blood circulation.

-Blueberries improve blood flow to genitals!

Why is Santa so happy?

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Santa Claus

Santa is pictured as a very jovial heavy -bellied old man. The perception of joviality and roundness often go together and research now proves that there is a connection. It has been statisically proven that fat people can be far happier than their thinner counterparts. Suicide and thinness seems to have a connection too. The thinner you are, the more likely it is that you could fall victim to depression.

One theory is that the higher your BMI(I’m not talking about morbidly obese individuals who can get extremely depressed too), the more insulin resistance you have. This raises your serotonin levels which gives you that feel-good factor. Some even believe that dieting does not give you all the happiness it claims to. The more you eat, the happier you get, they say.

But considering all the health problems that the big belly can give you, being fit might just work out in the long run. Although Santa should just stay the way he is- fat and full of joy!

What do you think of it?

Dieting together

Friday, December 15th, 2006

Going on a diet as a couple is a great way to keep your dieting patterns on track. Its also a great way to bond. Going to the gym together or doing yoga together is fun and since couples today hardly get to see each other, exercising together is a fun way of losing weight. Often you give up dieting because you hate to exercise alone and since you are accountable to noone , its easy to skip a gym session.

When you diet with your partner, cooking becomes easier since both of you have to eat the same foods. So there’s no question of stocking up junk food for one person and not the other. Its a good idea to encourage your kids to eat what you are eating and if its healthy food, then you are doing them a big favour.

Deciding to lose weight is a life-changing decision. Its always better if you have a support system and if you and your partner are jogging on the same track, it will be fun and you will tone up together!

This isn’t a good idea for all of you who think that the gym is the last place you would like to see your partner!:)

Stars downsize

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

staronahubbl.jpgOne of the Milky Way stellar heavyweight champions Pismis 24-1, which lies at the center of the small open star cluster Pismis 24 (the bright stars in the Hubble image), has lost its heavyweight status now that the telescopic image clarifies that Pismis 24-1 is not one but two stars. It now weighs 100 solar masses each.

The picture looked so wild that I just had to share this off topic weight story!

Some Diet Excuses I found on http://www.butlerwebs.com/jokes/diet.htm

-But the doughnut was calling my name.
-But it was my birthday, so I had to eat the whole cake.
-If you eat something and no one sees you eat it, it has no calories.
-If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the calories in the candy bar are canceled out by the diet soda.
-If you fatten up everyone else around you, then you look thinner.
