Spa Feature:Anantara Spa

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Today we’re going to Thailand for our spa feature and this time it’s a spa chain we’re looking at.Anantara means ‘borderless water’ in Sanskrit and the name carries connotations of wealth and prosperity in Asia.27-anantara-spa.jpg

Take a look at the Golden Triangle resort. When you enter and have been served with ginger honey tea you will be whisked away for the Thai-Burmese jungle tour. Once you fix your treatment, be prepared to soak yourself in some indulgence. The signature treatment here is the Culture of Anantara .It begins with aromatherapy massage using four specially blended oils, followed by a wrap exuding he goodness of wild honey, brown sugar, fresh pumpkin and bananas. It ends with an aromatherapy bath. Wow:)If that won’t destress you, nothing will.

Some other treatments here include the Traditional Thai Ritual ,the 60-minute Indian Head Massage and The Spa Bliss Ritual.

The next spa in the chain is the Hua Hin, a garden spa in an ideal tropical lagoon setting. There are some exotic massages and body treatments here that help to exfoliate, soften and invigorate using salt, Javanese spices, exotic fruits and fragrant oils. The Exotic Fruit Peel leaves you with the tang of orange and honey.I loved the idea of the Colour Therapy Steam Bath ,based on Ayurvedic medicine’s belief in the healing power of colour and its ability to balance the body’s three doshas(as in humours of ancient western medicine). Think about getting soaked in mud baths and having a Cleopatra honey milk bath:)

Don’t forget the Elemis Aroma Stone Therapy Massage at the Koh Samui, a 60-minute aromatic massage harnessing the healing power of warm Volcanic stone. How’s that? Small stones are placed on key energy points and the deep penetrating heat from the stones are used to massage the body, thus releasing muscular tension and balancing the spirit. It’s the perfect treatment for loosening stiff and sore muscles resulting from over-exercise and stress.

The idea of an over-water spa is intriguing and the Anantara spa at Maldives actually provides you a marine view of the world beneath your feet. You can detox your body with the Anantara Spa voyage of well being, nourish your body with White Sesame Body Treatment, and feel the harmony with the Ginger Bath.

If you are thinking of splurging on destressing yourself, these are some tempting destinations on offer!

Spa feature:Kumarakom Lake Resort

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Today I’m taking you to the backwaters of Kerala, a quaint green beautiful state down south in India. The Kumarakom lake resort is a fantastic spa which fuses traditional heritage with healing techniques.kuma.jpg

You couldn’t ask for more luxury what with the twenty-two plush heritage villas taking in the breathtaking view of the lake, the duplex villa and secluded royal Presidential Suites. The villas are completely ancestral. So you have beautiful black floors and fantastic wooden roofing and open air bathrooms.

ayur.jpgThe healing happens in the Ayurveda wellness spa, Ayurmana. Ayurveda means the knowledge of life and it’s an ancient healing method in India. The Ayurmana is a 200-year-old mansion that once housed some of the most famous practitioners of this ancient healing science.

Today you get some of the best holistic treatments available here. There are a whole variety of packages you can choose from and all kinds of massages by professional masseurs that aid in rejuvenation, weight loss and overall well being.

If God’s own country is on your itenarary, I would recommend that you chill out in this pristine land and get destressed at Kumarakom Lake Resort.
