Chinese Takeaways Take Away Your Health?
We all love Chinese takeaways but the big bad studies are out and it seems that eating Chinese takeaways may just be hazardous to your health. Why?
Just when you think banning trans fat has taken the zing out of your eating experience this study shows up. Well Chinese food sold in restaurants is pretty calorie rich and sodium-filled too.
The best way to be safe is simple. Eat with chopsticks; that way you eat smaller portions. Stay away from the sticky deep fried foods. Opt for veg dishes; even the starters can be pretty calorie heavy. Stay away from additional salt like soy sauce and other accompaniments. Share your meal if you can.
Personally I love Chinese food. But which food IS healthy these days?:)
Chinese restaurants a nutritionist’s nightmare, group says is a great read.

Hi neel,
Organic food is healthy!
I also try to avoid eating too much rice with Chinese food, too…white rice is like eating pure sugar because of all the carbs. We do love Chinese food, but try to make sure we eat a lot of veggies with it to counteract all the other stuff.

Hey Bobbi,
Of course organic food is healthy provided it is truly organic….if you know what I mean.
As for rice, you can have brown rice instead of white. That helps.

Hi Neel!
I really should try using chopsticks for all food I consume: I figure I’ll get so frustrated with using them that I’ll just give up on eating altogether!

Some Chinese food is bad for you, unfortunately as with most things in life, it’s the tasty things that are the worst.
There is no convenient, fast food that is really good for you, so it’s all a matter of balancing it up.
