Smoking and fitness

When you smoke,the amount of oxygen absorbed from the blood into the lungs is decreased and the amount of oxygen released into the blood is decreased. When you smoke there is more airway resistance and there could be mucous membrane swelling(over a long term), so the amount of oxygen you breathe in decreases.
Although studies have proven that exercising helps smokers, a decreased endurance among smokers causes a lot of them to quit exercise programs early on. Even passive smoking causes increase in fatigue after exercise.
