What’s Wrong With Being Size Zero?
“I think that in some cases there is nothing wrong with size zero. If you look good and are perfectly healthly then it is fine to be that size, some people may be naturally small and petite and shouldn’t be criticized as well.”
That’s what Holly said when she read my post Who wants to be size zero?.I absolutely agree. There’s nothing wrong with being smaller and more petite if you are healthy and happy.
But being thin has its setbacks. When you are in school you are called skinnny and flat. Then you when you are in college you wonder whether you should get breast implants and turn all Bootilicious like Beyonce. You are amazed that any amount of calories you consume does not amount to any kind of fat accumulation in your body. The obese world scoffs at you and calls you bulimic even when you are not. That’s for girls…the guys long for the rippling biceps and triceps and hate their matchstick figures.
These body image perceptions are really part of the society we live in. The healthy image is appealing and so there is the refusal to sympathize wth either the obese or their size zero counterparts.
I think this story confirms that size really lurks in your genes and that your happiness does not depend on how fat or thin you are:

I think no matter what body type there are always setbacks…if you are heavier set but are still at a healthy weight for your body type you might be perceived as being fat where as you are actually a good weight for your body type. If you are extremely petite people might think of you as being anorexic or bullimic or whatever else they want to think when you could be a really healthy weight for your size. There is so much of a range of what is healthy and what isn’t that people tend to not quite be able to see anything as healthy and have criticism for every type of body. Personally I think the number one thing is to be a healthy weight and to live the healthiest lifestyle you can the rest of the stuff is just crap that comes with being a human being and living in a society that is so mixed up.
