Why is Santa so happy?

Santa is pictured as a very jovial heavy -bellied old man. The perception of joviality and roundness often go together and research now proves that there is a connection. It has been statisically proven that fat people can be far happier than their thinner counterparts. Suicide and thinness seems to have a connection too. The thinner you are, the more likely it is that you could fall victim to depression.
One theory is that the higher your BMI(I’m not talking about morbidly obese individuals who can get extremely depressed too), the more insulin resistance you have. This raises your serotonin levels which gives you that feel-good factor. Some even believe that dieting does not give you all the happiness it claims to. The more you eat, the happier you get, they say.
But considering all the health problems that the big belly can give you, being fit might just work out in the long run. Although Santa should just stay the way he is- fat and full of joy!

In the end happiness really has to do with how you feel about yourself. If you’re happy with yourself being skinny, you’ll be happy. If you’re happy with yourself being fat, you’ll be happy. I personally believe that there is a middle ground in weight that is the best overall for everyone, not too fat and not too skinny. Really, everyone needs to decide what is best for them and then to work to achieve that. Being fit may not be for everyone, but neither is being fat!
